At Cialfo, we handle your personal data with the utmost care and legality, ensuring it is managed responsibly and transparently. Our full Privacy Policy provides all the details about how we achieve this.
Data transfer outside the EU/UK region
Our servers, currently located in Japan, operate under strict data privacy guidelines in accordance with EU and UK GDPR guidelines and best practices. We have invested in servers hosted by AWS, the world’s leading cloud computing provider. When transferring data outside the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), we either:
- transfer data to countries which have been rendered an adequacy decision – acknowledged by the European Commission or the UK Government for their robust data protection standards – (EU and UK GDPR's Article 45) or
- enter into appropriate data transfer agreements in accordance with the Standard Contractual Clauses (EU and UK GDPR’s Article 46).
Data Processing Agreements
Some schools may wish to enter a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Cialfo to satisfy school policies. Please get in touch with your dedicated account manager to initiate this process. We will begin by having a meeting to walk through our existing policies, and if it does not satisfy your needs we can work on additional reasonable agreements.
Privacy choices for students
While using our platform requires accepting our privacy policy, this does not grant us carte blanche to share students’ personal details with universities or other third parties. Students may encounter opportunities to engage with features like Connections and events, which do require opting into an additional privacy agreement. This step is purely optional, such that students maintain the freedom to choose what they share and with whom. School counselors can further tailor this experience, controlling features like university connection prompts and even disabling certain features upon request.
Opt out of marketing communications anytime
Our commitment to enriching the educational experience extends to keeping students and educators informed about Cialfo events and workshops. By agreeing to our privacy policy, you will automatically receive updates about these opportunities. Should you choose to opt out, simply click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of our email communications. Schools also have the autonomy to completely stop receiving these communications for their students and guardians, ensuring that you receive only what is most relevant and valuable to you.
Keeping our Privacy Policy updated
We occasionally update our Privacy Policy. When we do make an update, we will ensure you know about it by updating the date on the policy. If there are material changes — for example changes to national laws — we will go a step further to make sure you are in the loop, such as sending you an email or notifying you in another way through the Platform.
