  • Discover more about themselves and how to make the most of their strengths
  • Support their personal development and maximize their university experience
  • Identify careers that suit them and make informed decisions about their future
  • Build confidence in discussing their strengths and demonstrating them to employers

York Strengths is available to all students of the university, with different elements tailored for undergraduate, postgraduate taught, postgraduate research, or distance learning students.

Even after graduation, York provides lifelong support. Graduates can access ongoing career support, participate in networking opportunities, and attend alumni events. Whether individuals seek to enhance their professional life through courses, prepare for a promotion with career support and advice, or simply stay connected with York and their university friends, the support continues.

York for life is a new program offering events, opportunities, and tailored offers specifically for alumni. Graduates can sign up for events, ask questions, and connect with people from around the world. They might reconnect with someone from their class or someone who completed their degree 10 years earlier and is now in their dream job. Alumni can also pass on their experiences to new graduates.

York ranks in the Top 20 in the UK for graduate earning potential according to The Guardian (2022). York graduates include political leaders, CEOs of charities, and award-winning writers. The university has a vast alumni network available to answer questions about career journeys and even offer mentorship. Alumni profiles can be browsed on the dedicated York Profiles and Mentors webpage.
