FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW DELHI, JUNE 27, 2022 — Singapore-based EdTech Cialfo today announced that WeWork India’s Berger Delhi One in Noida (UP) will be its Indian headquarters, effective 1 August, 2022. The move is part of a plan to strategically grow operations and invest US$20 million in the market over the next five years. With close to 250 employees worldwide, ~90 of whom work from major metros and tier 2 cities in India already, the company aims to have more than 250 staff based here by the end of 2023 to drive its mission with speed and at scale.
In line with the hybrid way of working it has adopted since the company’s inception in 2017, the partnership with WeWork will afford the team maximum flexibility as it continues to grow, allowing people to work from WeWork offices across the country. In addition to India and Singapore, Cialfo has local offices in the United States, and China. Dozens of Cialfolk currently work entirely remotely from 10 other locations worldwide.
Co-founded by Indian Rohan Pasari, CEO, Singaporean Stanley Chia, COO, and Australian William Hund, CPO, Cialfo is an award-winning, global digital transformation leader in higher education and international student mobility. In India, the team’s aim is to help over 65 million high school students in 100+ cities - including smaller towns beyond the major metropolitan areas - to find and enroll in the very best undergraduate programs available to them based on their academic potential, learning style, and career aspirations.
In 2020, Mr. Pasari, who was born and raised in Kolkata, made the EDGE’s 35 Under 35 list of entrepreneurs for his significant contribution to Singapore’s startup community since graduating from Nanyang Technological University. He conceived Cialfo to fix the challenges he personally faced when applying to colleges and is passionate about instilling a culture of creativity and innovation across the company.
Commenting on the office opening, Rohan said: “Expanding our presence in India means so much - to me personally, as well as to the higher ed ecosystem worldwide. By scaling the team with top local engineering and other talent, we really have an opportunity to leapfrog the sector and make a massive impact - to students, schools and society at large. Opening this office at WeWork India - a brand that shares our innovative spirit and which fundamentally shaped the future of work - inspires us to become an equally influential player in our own way.”
He continued: “I’m honoured to share this moment with H.E. Simon Wong, Singapore’s High Commissioner to the Republic of India. His presence reminds us of the power in cross-cultural collaboration and understanding, which is one of the best gifts that an international education can give students today.”
An inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion with the cofounders was held in the presence of H.E. Simon Wong, who said: “It gives me great pleasure to see a Singaporean start-up succeed beyond our shores. Cialfo's mission to make higher education more accessible is an important and worthwhile one. I am confident that its expanded operations in India will enable it to grow even faster and help many more young people fulfil their higher education aspirations, including pursuing their studies in Singapore, which for many Indian students and companies is a home away from home."
Commenting on the partnership, Raghuvinder Singh Pathania, Head of Community and Operations, WeWork India said, “We are thrilled to offer our workspace to a renowned, global edtech company like Cialfo. Noida is an innovative urban planning hub, and home to several global software development leaders which makes it an ideal location for an international company to mark its foray into the Indian market.
